Fravek is developing a passive detection service for critical sites, delivered through security integrators. Our approach combines distributed sensing nodes with software to help operators detect approaching drones and cue existing security systems.

  • · Cameras and acoustics reach a few hundred metres and generally need something else to cue them first.
  • · Active radar can cover wide areas, but involves transmission, spectrum clearance and a significant installation per site.
  • · Our nodes receive existing radio signals instead of transmitting, which is what makes distributed placement around a site practical.
  • · Supporting context: the EU CER directive and NIS2 push operators of critical sites to manage physical risks, and unauthorised drone activity is named among them.

Coverage illustration

Coverage scales with the number of nodes.

Larger airframes reflect more signal and can be seen further out; smaller drones need a denser network. How many nodes a site needs depends on its geometry and the drone types it cares about, which is exactly what a pilot is meant to establish.

Long-term direction
