Passive radar for critical infrastructure

Seeing without being seen.

Fravek is developing AI-enabled passive radar to detect drones using signals already in the air. Low-cost sensing nodes and connected software are designed to give operators earlier warning—without transmitting a radar signal.

Making the low skies visibleAbove the managed airspace layer, air traffic control and radar keep watch. Below, sites rely on cameras, fences and acoustics. In between sits a band with no persistent sensing layer — the low-altitude space where small drones operate. Fravek is developing passive radar to make that band visible without emitting a signal.3000 m500 m50 m0MANAGED AIRSPACEATC / transponders / primary radarUNSEENno persistent sensing layersmall UAS flight pathcameras / fences / acousticscritical infrastructure
Drone threats can slip between air defence and perimeter security. We’re closing that gap.

The need

Earlier warning. More time to act.

Drone threats can approach beyond the reach of perimeter security. We’re developing an additional layer of awareness to help operators see what’s approaching and prepare a response.

The approach

Existing signals. Connected nodes. One air picture.

Our approach uses reflections from existing radio signals to detect drones. Software is being developed to classify detections, combine information across nodes and deliver useful tracks to operational systems.

No radar transmission

Receive existing signals without transmitting a radar signal.

Distributed coverage

Add sensing nodes around the locations that need visibility.

Connected operations

Designed to cue other sensors and integrate with command-and-control systems.

Technical architecture and evaluation details are available to relevant organisations on request.

The applications

One sensing approach, two routes to use.

Critical infrastructure

Drone detection through your security partner.

We’re developing a detection service for airports, energy sites, ports, water utilities and data centres, delivered through security integrators and connected to existing security operations.

  • · No radar transmission, so nodes can sit beside a runway or on a city rooftop
  • · Wide-area awareness that cues cameras and other sensors already installed
  • · Delivered through the security partners you already work with

Defence

Passive sensing for operational environments.

We’re developing the same sensing approach for defence applications, with field evaluation planned to assess performance against operational requirements.

  • · No radar transmission from the node itself
  • · Designed to be carried and emplaced by a small crew
  • · Evaluation planned with operational users

Development progress

From development to field evidence.

Our next milestone is measured performance in Ukraine and at Swedish pilot sites, targeted for Q2 2026.

Help shape your site’s drone detection.

We’re looking for infrastructure operators, security integrators and defence partners to help shape and evaluate Fravek.
